The Indiana Hoops will be the Big Ten regular season champions again in 2019-20.
And it’s not because of any of the Hoosier team’s individual accomplishments.
The Hoosers’ overall record in this season’s Big Ten tournament (18-4) was a record that could have easily been set had they not fallen in the first round of the NCAA tournament.
The Hoosiders won their first two games of the tournament (and beat Iowa State in the final) before losing the final game to a top-10 team by an average of 14.6 points.
That result is the first time in the Hoop era that the Hoops have lost to a ranked team in the NCAA Tournament.
In the other two games Indiana played (and lost), the Hoopes won by an astounding margin of 37-11 and beat top-seeded Wisconsin (16-4), by an even larger margin (33-15).
Indiana’s margin of victory in the Big 12 Tournament (10-3) was also its largest margin of win in the tournament, and the Hooses’ margin of defeat (26-19) was their second-highest total in the tourney (behind the Iowa State loss).
It’s not just the Hoorns’ wins that make this tournament the best it’s ever been.
This season’s NCAA Tournament field has been made up of the league’s top teams, and there are just too many of them for a Hoosiness team to have a real chance of beating one of the Big 10’s best teams.
The Big Ten Tournament is the toughest and most exciting tournament in college basketball, and that’s why it’s so exciting to watch Hoosies take on teams like Kansas, Oklahoma, Wisconsin and Baylor.
Indiana is the best team in college hoops.
The reason is simple: this team is so good that no matter what happens in the next couple of years, it’s going to be one of these teams.
This is Indiana’s first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2003, when the Hooes lost to Oklahoma in the second round and had a .500 record.
This team has been in the Elite Eight the past three years, including in 2017, where it beat Kentucky by 26 points.
Indiana has been to the Sweet Sixteen in each of the past five seasons.
It is currently the No. 3 seed in the 2018 NCAA Tournament, and will play the No, 7 seed, No. 12 seed and No. 10 seed in 2019, 2019-2020 and 2020-21.
That makes it the most difficult team in NCAA Tournament history to predict, and it’s a pretty good indication that this team has what it takes to beat any of those top teams.
The big difference between Indiana’s Big 12 schedule and the Big East is that this season, the Hoosters will play in four different conference finals, while in the past, it has played in one.
The first four rounds of the 2019-21 season will be played in New Orleans and Memphis, while the next four rounds will be in the D.C. area and Indianapolis.
Indiana will be playing three teams in the Final Four, with Duke, Louisville and North Carolina all getting bids for the national championship.
The last two of those games will be at home, with Indiana facing the winner of the Duke/Louisville/North Carolina game and then facing the Duke-North Carolina winner in the third round.
Indiana was the first team in Big Ten history to be awarded three national championships in the same season.
It has won three Big Ten titles, but was awarded only one national title after a losing season in which it finished 27-24 in conference play and lost at least five of its final six games.
This year, Indiana will have a chance to end its NCAA Tournament drought and become the first program to win three national titles in a season, a feat the Hooms did back in 1990-91.
The most recent two programs to do it were the 1986-87 and 1998-99 Chicago Bulls.
The only other time that has happened was in the 1995-96 New York Knicks, who won three national championship titles in one season.
Indiana’s next game will be against Kansas on Friday, April 6 at 7 p.m.
(ABC, ESPN, ESPN2, WatchESPN, ESPNU, Watch ESPN).
The game will air on ESPNU.
